What We Believe

Sacred Word Lutheran Church belongs to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, its head.  All actions of this congregation are to be carried out under his rule and authority.

Sacred Word Lutheran Church, a Lutheran congregation, accepts the Bible is the inspired Word of God proclaiming the canonical scripture of both the Old and New Testaments as the divinely inspired, revealed, and inerrant Word of God and the only infallible authority in all matters of faith and life. As brief and true statements of the doctrine of the Word of God, the congregation of Sacred Word Lutheran Church accept the following:

  • The Apostles’, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds
  • The Unaltered Augsburg Confession
  • Luther’s Small Catechism
  • Luther’s Large Catechism
  • The Book of Concord of 1580.

The Congregation of Sacred Word Lutheran Church confesses the Gospel, recorded in the Holy Scriptures and confessed in the ecumenical creeds and Lutheran confessional writings, as the power of God to create and sustain the Church for God’s mission in the world.
